Healing Hearts K9 Counselors are unbelievable dogs that are highly trained and skilled at attending to your emotions. They come to work with their handlers and are present in sessions when needed. These dogs often put you at ease, making therapy an easier process.
Our K9 Counselors are Max and Clyde. Max is a gentle giant who loves everyone. In fact, he will do whatever he can to get your attention! Don’t be alarmed if he approaches you, he just wants to make another friend! Clyde is calm and friendly with a soft presence and an old soul. He is known for his calm demeanor and his ability to soothe any situation.
Go Team Therapy, Crisis and Airport Dogs
Healing Hearts has partnered with Go Team Therapy, Crisis, and Airport Dogs Madison Chapter to provide a handler and therapy dog in the waiting room. Visiting times vary.
In addition, look for our 4-legged friends in the community! You can see them in schools and at local events!
These dogs have the following certifications and credentials: Minimum 1-year-old, minimum six month Sit Means Sit client, American Kennel Club (AKC) Canine Good Citizen (CGC), Canine Good Citizen Advanced (CGCA), Canine Good Citizen Urban (CGCU), Crisis, Service, Therapy and Airport certifications.
Healing Hearts assessment process is used to obtain information to ensure accurate treatment recommendations. Our assessments are made up of 3 appointments for clients under 18 and 2 appointments for adult clients. An assessment is required to access any service or therapy at Healing Hearts Family Counseling Center.
